Jim Powell - Team President
Born in Globe in 1970. Graduated from Apache Junction High School where he played football, guard and tackle. He is single and the proud father of one son.  Currently Jim is working in the sales department of a large construction equipment company.

Coaching is also in his blood. In 2003 he spent one year as the offensive line coach at Dysart High School, El Mirage, AZ.  He worked as an assistant offensive line coach at Phoenix College for two years ( 2004 & 2005) under Head Coach Ron Wolfley and his assistant Dale Wolfley. Ron Wolfley played for the Cardinals Organization (St. Louis and Phoenix) from 1985 - 1991. Wolfley retired from the NFL in 1996.

One of Jim’s most influential mentors is Coach Tom Bresnahan, the Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach at Phoenix College. Bresnahan has an enormous history of playing the game and coaching, as a player at Holy Cross, and an impressive coaching history, which includes: 16 ½ years with Pro-Teams: 2 years Kansas City Chiefs (1981-1982), 2 years New York Giants (1983 - 1984), 3 years St. Louis -Phoenix Cardinals (1986 -1988), 9 years Buffalo Bills - (1989-1997) 4 with Super Bowls. Says Jim of Coach Bresnahan, “when you work under the leadership of Coach Bresnahan there is never enough time to learn all this man knows about football.”

Starting his 9th year with the Sting, Jim agrees with Coach Bobby, “ It’s time to rebuild and move on to our goals, one of which is to win our 100th game.”  When asked why these young men play the game at this level, Jim responded, “ they miss the camaraderie and bonding you get by being on a team, during the good as well as the bad times. Being with friends who share the same love for the game is what makes it fun for us.”
