If you were lucky enough to see the CFL 7th Annual All Star Game on May 16th you were treated to an awesome performance by this young man, who was chosen as the MVP for the game. # 45 from the Glendale Rangers, Mike Talbot is an Arizona native, born in Phoenix and raised in the Avondale area. He attended Aqua Fria High School, home of the Owls. While playing football for head coach Micky Bell (now the head coach at Glendale Community College) Mike was utilized as a DE and LB. He lettered three years at his alma mater. During his senior year while playing for Agua Fria Head Coach Kelly Epley he was chosen All State. In addition to football this young man ventured onto the track team where he specialized in discus and shot put. During his junior and senior years he took first place at the 4A state track meet, both years in both events. Talk about competitive! After graduating in 2002, Mike headed to Arizona State University, playing football for head coach Dirk Koetter. During his first two years at ASU he played backup FB, and then during his junior and senior years he was moved to DE. After ASU Mike found his way to the Copper Football League, playing for the Glendale Rangers, where he made the All Star team. Being chosen to the All Star team is one of those magic moments in his football career. His performance this year earned him the MVP title as he had 12 tackles, 2 sacks and 1 interception. There is no wonder he was chosen as the game’s MVP, helping his team win 21 – 7. Mike is finishing up some classes at ASU to earn his degree in Sociology and Recreation Management. Looking to the future, Mike sees himself continuing his current work as an investor, married and perhaps back at Agua Fria High School as an assistant football coach. Mike if you future is as successful as your current football career, you have a great life ahead of you. Thanks for sharing. |
